We all die. What is a good death? The “A Good Death” Vase is a meditation on impermanence, on how beauty and loss coexist in the same breath. What began as a simple act of making became a reflection on how to die well: the courage to release control, to accept change, and to find grace in what remains.

The first version of the vase collapsed. Its fall revealed something essential, that strength does not come from perfection, but from the willingness to begin again. As our body deteriorate, we become kids again. Needing help to eat and wearing diapers, re-learning how to do certain things. Reclaimed clay, rebuilt form, the slow drying process, each step mirrored the quiet transformations that shape a life, or its ending.

In its final form, the vase holds a single dried rose. Together, they speak of endurance and surrender: the rose preserved in stillness, the clay solidified through fire. The piece is now both fragile and eternal, a small reminder that every ending can also be a resting place for beauty.
